The lack of an Italian voice-over for Mass Effect: Andromeda has shocked many people, leading to protests against Electronic Arts. As we were saying, it seems too late to have it at launch (or even to have it at all), but it still makes us happy to report on an initiative aimed at stirring things up.
Jacopo Usai from Cagliari has launched a petition to request an Italian voice-over for the new Bioware title, with the threat of a boycott if it is not taken into consideration. Let’s read the text:
On February 26th, we read on Twitter that Mass Effect: Andromeda will not have an Italian voice-over. This was confirmed by BioWare Vice President Aaryn Flynn with a post in response to a fan’s question.
The way Italian gamers are increasingly being treated by American producers is unbearable. The reasoning behind it is purely commercial and is based on the fact that we will buy the game anyway, whether we like certain choices or not.
I invite you to cancel your pre-order now and not to buy the game on day one, pending positive news on the Italian voice-over from BioWare or EA. Only in this way can we reverse a trend that would otherwise risk extending to future games.
We ask BioWare and Electronics Art to reconsider their choice, if not in time for the release, then with a patch or DLC.
