This specialised one-to-one course is designed for Italian voice-over artists who want to expand their professional opportunities by recording confidently in English.

Combining accent training, phonetics, acting techniques and industry-specific exercises, the course helps students develop a natural, expressive and authentic English-language delivery.

Students will explore the differences between Italian and English vocal performance, work on pronunciation and intonation, and learn how to adapt their existing voice-over skills to international projects.

Ideal for artists who already have experience behind the microphone but feel limited by their English pronunciation, fluency or confidence when performing in a second language.

A working knowledge of English is recommended.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

To help Italian voice-over artists build the linguistic and performance skills needed to approach English-language recording sessions with confidence.

By the end of the course, students will be able to identify and correct recurring pronunciation patterns, improve their rhythm and intonation, interpret English scripts more naturally and adapt their performance to different voice-over genres.

The ultimate goal is to develop a more versatile vocal profile and prepare students to pursue international auditions and professional opportunities.

THE TEACHER:

Nevada Red is a professional voice-over artist with 10 years of experience in the industry. She taught and studied in London, and has worked internationally for brands like Disney, Netflix, Unilever and so on. Drawing on her professional work, Nevada combines practical techniques, acting exercises and personalised feedback to help students discover their vocal potential and develop industry-relevant skills.

COURSE STRUCTURE:

Four private online lessons, 60 minutes each.

Lesson 1 – From Italian to English: Understanding Your Voice

• Individual English pronunciation and performance assessment.
• Identifying Italian pronunciation habits that affect English delivery.
• Exploring British and American English and choosing a target accent.
• Developing awareness of vowel sounds, consonants and articulation.

Lesson 2 – Sounding Natural: Accent, Rhythm & Intonation

• Working on English vowel and consonant placement.
• Understanding word stress, sentence stress and connected speech.
• Exploring the musical differences between Italian and English.
• Improving fluency without sacrificing personality or expression.

Lesson 3 – Acting in English: Beyond Pronunciation

• Interpreting English-language commercial, narration and character scripts.
• Understanding intention, emotion and subtext.
• Avoiding overly literal interpretations of English copy.
• Developing natural, conversational delivery and responding to direction in English.

Lesson 4 – Your International Audition

• Preparing an English-language audition.
• Working with a professional-style recording brief.
• Performing alternative takes and responding to live direction.
• Receiving detailed feedback on accent consistency, pronunciation and acting.
• Discussing strategies for developing an English-language voice-over portfolio.

Includes personalised pronunciation exercises, English practice scripts, individual performance feedback and guidance on selecting suitable material for future demo recordings.

A personalised approach

This course builds on the student’s existing professional experience. The objective is not to erase their Italian identity, but to develop greater control over their English delivery and work towards a consistent target accent appropriate to their goals. Additional sessions may be needed to reach specific casting requirements.
